Tips to Create the Ultimate Home Theatre

0

Creating the ultimate home theatre for your house is a daunting prospect. The complexity of today’s technology, the myriad of options available, and of course, your budget – all will play on your mind. We are here to help – here are five of the most important things you’ll need to consider.

  1. TV

Arguably the most important part of your home theatre is the TV or in some cases a projector. Generally, the bigger the better, but there are other considerations. There are formulas out there that will help you determine what size screen you need depending on the room size, distance to the seats etc, but it’s probably best to contact an expert ensure you get this vital aspect just right.

  1. Room

Consider the room you’ve chosen – the size and the layout obviously, but also ensure you can make it dark enough and soundproofed enough to be considerate to the rest of the household whilst still being able to listen to the movie at the appropriate level – finding a way to close the room off from the rest of the house is important. Think about using matte surfaces, as light reflecting off shiny surfaces can be distracting. And don’t think you need to remove all furniture and soft furnishings, these can help absorb some of the sound and make the space less prone to echoing.

  1. Sound

THX certified speakers are the way to go for the best sound. But this isn’t always possible – you’ll need to operate within your budget, and this is where it again pays to contact an expert. In the Hunter region, Custom Audio Visual Solutions are experts you can trust to help. Other things to think about include the positioning of all your electronics and speakers – again it can help to consult an expert. There are ideal locations for subwoofer placements – in the corner of a room or hard up against the wall is generally not an ideal location.

  1. Seating

Comfort is important of course. Ensure your chairs support your spine, as you’ll be spending some time in them. Don’t get high-backed seats as they will block the sound. Seating that is away from the wall (at least one meter – more is better), and speakers appropriately placed will create the ideal sound field that will immerse you into the movie. Just remember that seating up against walls will interrupt the sound path and will reduce the quality of the sound when you’re binge-watching of Game of Thrones.

  1. Electronics

What you want in your electronics ideally is to connect your speakers and TV using a configuration that is low in complexity and high in sound. Consulting with an expert is the best way to ensure you achieve this. And finally, keep the remotes to a minimum. Ideally, a universal remote or controlling your home theatre from an ipad will make it easy for everyone to use and be the icing on the cake for your home theatre.
